Gori

You could say that Gori is an oven-cooked polycarbonate soufflé, though its form and name are inspired by kakigori, the traditional Japanese ice cream made with shaved ice.

The project came about from experimenting with dehydrated polycarbonate; when it is heated quickly, the plastic rapidly ejects any water it contains, which generates air bubbles.

The polycarbonate is completely transparent before it is put in the oven, and though the bubbles which are formed are also transparent, the effect produced by the light passing through them creates a surprising visual effect.

Se podría decir que Gori es un soufflé de policarbonato al horno, aunque su forma y nombre están inspirados en el kakigori, helado tradicional japonés realizado con hielo rayado.

El proyecto surge a partir de la experimentación con la deshidratación del policarbonato: al ser calentado súbitamente, el plástico desaloja rápidamente el agua que contiene en su interior, lo que genera burbujas de aire.

El policarbonato es absolutamente transparente antes de meterlo en el horno, y las burbujas que se forman mantienen esa transparencia, aunque el efecto que produce la luz al atravesarlas crea un efecto visual sorprendente.
