Scarab

The small table Scarab adapts the graphic language previously used in other products by Goula/Figuera in an object and material never explored by the studio. In this case, the lines from Lines & Dots that draw in the air an sculptural shape, have a double purpose, technical and aesthetical: to hide the joints of the three glass pieces that give shape to the table and create a graphic composition never seen in this kind of objects. Nevertheless, the most surprising part of Scarab can only be seen from up close, as the black lines are “trapped” within the glass, thanks to a thoughtful process of screen printing and laminated.

La mesa Scarab adapta el lenguaje gráfico de productos anteriores de Goula/Figuera a un objeto y un material inexplorados por el estudio hasta la fecha. Así, las lineas que en Lines & Dots dibujan en el aire una forma escultural, en el caso de Scarab tienen una función técnica y estética concreta: esconder las uniones entre las tres piezas de vidrio que la forman y crear una composición gráfica nunca vista en este tipo de objetos.

Sin embargo, lo más sorprendente de Scarab sólo se ve de cerca, ya que las rayas están “atrapadas” en el interior del vidrio, lo que se consigue gracias a un laborioso sistema de serigrafiado y laminado.
